Ham Gravy
2
The ingredients
1 cup ham drippings
▢¼ cup butter
▢¼ cup all purpose flour
▢1 cup whole milk
3
The Instructions
First step is to decide what kind of ham you are going to have if you use ham on the holidays. Ham is normally very salty and its gravy is closer to beef gravy its very savory and salty.
4
Choices for ham
Many people use honey glaze, brown sugar rub or pineapple on the outside of thier ham this can add a little sweetness to the Gravy. Some people use seasoning salt and or Paprika, be careful this doesnt make the gravy too salty you might need some extra milk. My personal favorite is to use Carribean or jerk spices on the ham with pineapple and have a slightly spicy gravy.

Steps
Just like the Mac and cheese we have to start with a roux which basically means we are going to make a thick and gritty mix with our flour before we mix in the milk to help it clump less.
Add the ham drippings and butter to a saucepan over medium heat and whisk until butter has melted.
Add in the flour and whisk for 2-3 minutes.
Pour in the milk and continue to whisk constantly for 2 minutes or until thick.

Multiple Choice
Our ingrediants tell us an amount of Cups that we need:
1 cup ham drippings see Notes
¼ cup butter
¼ cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
When we are done though we will need something to put it in Most prefer a Gravy boat which is sold by sizes in ounces. when looking up the amount of ounces in 1 cup we get 8 what do we do to the 2.5 cups to find out how many ounces it will make.
Divide it by 8
Add 8
multiply it by 8
subtract 8

Multiple Select
In cooking this is known as a unit conversion, Cooking isn't the only job that might need you to convert to different units.
Mechanics, Architects, Carpenters, Scientists, Meteoroligists, and many more have to do these conversions but the best part is its the same type of math that we use in Dilations, similarity, and when we work with equations. Slope is just a ratio of the amount the drawing goes up or down for each change of 1 in x. 1 cup is 8 ounces we could make a linear function to represent it:
y = 8x
What are some other names we have used for this process (choose all that you remember)

Multiple Choice
In our situation our 2.5 cups when converted into ouces
requires us to use the conversion ratio of 1 cup to 8 ounces how many ounces will the Gravy boat need to hold ?
10.5 ouces
16 ounces
20 ounces
9
Multiple Select
Which of the following would allow you to get the correct amount of ounces for 2 gravy boats that size ?
(more than one could be correct)
2.5 x 8 x 2
2.5 x 2 x 8
8 x 2 x 2.5
It doesn't matter because it is all multiplication it is commutative.
10
Multiple Choice
Figure out how many total cups of ingredients you would need to only fill a 12 ounce gravy boat ?
(remember the original 2.5 cups came to 20 ounces)
1.5 cups
2.0 cups
10 cups
96 cups
