In an era when space exploration is more popular than ever, it would not be a surprise if humans soon meet other life forms. If I was to choose three things to teach those aliens about people on Earth, I would choose a book, the American flag, and a red feather.
Books represent the people’s ability to express their ideas all around the globe. Nowadays, no matter whoever or wherever that person is, they can write their own opinions and thoughts into stories or non-fiction texts. These books can then go on and influence other people’s ideas and thoughts as well, and shake the world, if even slightly. Books illustrate our society as open to change and new ideas; in other words, extremely flexible. It shows that we are a civilized group, a group able to learn from the past and each other.
The flag of America, with 50 stars on it, is an epitome of the people’s will to fight back against oppressors and let their voices be heard; their mental and physical strength. America’s independence from England shows the Americans’ determination to make their own decisions and take responsibility for their own actions. The American flag embodies the strength of the people on Earth by showing how Amerians started off as underlings of Great Britain but eventually became the largest economy in modern society. It represents us as a group that is always yearning for growth and aims high.
The red feather represents the Red Feather Campaign, a special charity in Japan which helps people in the world get what they need. It represents the kindness of humans, and how we strive to aid one another to achieve a common goal. Not all creatures are friendly to their own species and families, and this red feather represents our Herculean progress so far. It shows that we are a friendly society; a society that cares for one another. We humans have evolved from lowly primates to the amazing beings we are today. I want to educate the aliens about the greatness of humans, and how despite some flaws, we are still working hard to create a world where all can live happily and peacefully.
