In 1969, The United
States Defense
Department Created a
network called
ARPANET.
(Advanced Research
Projects Agency
Network).

This Initiative was designed to create a
network that would allow computers to
openly communicate across a network .
The referred to as The Internet Project.
And the network that developed from it is
known as The Internet.

The internet was developed to be used
as a tool to connect universities and
government agencies, allowing them to
not only communicate but also, to share
information and resources in as little time
as possible.

corporation owns the internet.
Initially the idea to create a
network that links computer
together to share information was
conceived in 1962 by J.R.
Licklider,a professor at the
Massachusetts of Technology,
Despite conceiving the idea, even
J.R Licklider does not own the
Internet .

Using the Internet:
1. A computer or mobile device
1. A high speed digital modem- to
convert analog signals to digital
signals for the computer to
understand.
1. A telephone line or Cable- this
connects you to your Internet
Service Provider (ISP)
1. A Web Browser- application software
that locates, retrieve and display
content of the World Wide Web.

When you using the browser, in order for
the content to displayed on the computer
clients(person requesting the content)
The web browser contact the web server
and request the information.
This web server is a computer system that
can be located anywhere in the world.
The primary purpose of the web server
Is to connect to the internet and download
stored web pages and file on the client
computer when they request it.
