Fractions in Simplest Form

A fraction is simplified, reduced, or in simplest form when its numerator and denominator have no common factors other than 1.

Steps to put a fraction in simplest form:

Find a common factor of both the numerator and denominator.

Remember factors are the numbers that you multiply together to get your product (in this case the numerator or denominator).

2 is always a factor of even numbers,

3 is a factor if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3.

5 is a factor if the number ends in a 5 or O.

6 is a factor if both 2 and 3 are factors.

9 is a factor if the sum of the digits is divisible by 9.

10 is a factor if the number ends in a O.
