​Emma’s Old Toy

Emma is a high school student. One day, she went to a flea market with her friends. The market was very big, and so many items were being sold. While they were walking around, Emma found ( 21 ) at one of the shops.

It looked very similar to the old toy she used to play with when she was little. So, she picked it up, and soon, she was very surprised because she found her name on it.

​The Abilities of Trees

Like humans, trees have several abilities that are necessary to survive. This includes the ability to have memories. Humans have brains for memories, but trees do not. However, they can remember some events related to surviving. For example, some research shows that trees can remember long and hard times with little rain or situations caused by insects harmful to the trees. Then, they can use these memories to survive the next time something similar happens. It is also believed that trees can feel a touch. For example, some trees react to the touch of an object, such as human hands. Even the light touch of a human finger on their leaves can affect their growth. In addition, some studies point out that trees react to sound, too. Sound creates air vibrations, a kind of shaking of the air, and trees can sense these vibrations of human voices or music. This could leadto changes in tree growth.

Another surprising ability that trees have is that they can sense each other. Perhaps people may have wondered why trees in the forest or small backyards somehow grow without touching each other too much. This indicates that each leaf on a tree can sense the other trees. They try to avoid other trees or leaves as they grow. With this ability, they do not harm each other. Generally, we tend to think that plants do not have these abilities. However, now surprising abilities of trees have been found out. More research will be done in the future to examine how intelligent trees are, what kinds of parts are related to each ability, and so on. For a long time, trees have learned various abilities to adapt toheir growing environment. Like trees, humans may have to change the way they live to adapt to the changing global environment.
