Sancho originally thought life would be perfect because he would become rich and able to send money to his family (pg. 9). In reality, he encounters bothersome problems and dangers, such as not being able to eat any of the food he wants and someone trying to poison him (pg. 46, 48) and an enemy attack (pg. 49).

What evidence in these chapters supports the view that Sancho is realistic?

He realizes that he is happier with a simpler life than being "governor" of the "island." (pg. 50-51)

We have described Don Quixote as idealistic and Sancho is realistic. Nonetheless is there any evidence in these chapters that Sancho is idealistic, even momentarily?

Sancho believes he is on an island where he is governor and still does not realize that the Duke directs everything that happens as part of the joke he is playing on both Don Quixote and Sancho.
