Collaborative Writing
Step 1: Prepare Materials
📝 Each student should have a blank sheet of paper and a pen or pencil.
📝 Write their name at the top of the page.
Step 2: Writing the First Step
📌 Each student writes a topic sentence introducing a simple process (e.g., making a sandwich, brushing teeth, planting a seed).
📌 Then, they write only the first step of the process, using a sequencing word (e.g., "First, begin by...").
Step 3: Pass the Paper
🔄 After writing the first step, students pass their paper to the right.
🔄 Each student reads what was written and adds the next logical step, using sequencing words (e.g., "Next, Then, After that").
Step 4: Continue Passing and Adding Steps
➡️ Repeat Step 3 until the paper returns to the original writer.
➡️ Encourage students to follow the logical flow of the process.
➡️ The final step should conclude the process (e.g., "Finally, enjoy your sandwich!").
Step 5: Editing and Revising
✏️ Each student reviews their completed process paragraph.
✔️ Check for logical order and sequencing discourse devices.
✔️ Revise for clarity, grammar, and punctuation.
✔️ Rewrite the paragraph neatly if needed.
Step 6: Share and Reflect
🗣️ Volunteers can read their paragraphs aloud.
💡 Discuss what worked well and how sequencing words helped make the process clear.
