3
Turbulence can be range between Light and Extreme.
There are Light, Moderate, Severe, and Extreme turbulence.
Sometimes turbulence are expected sometimes they are unexpected.
Always keep your seatbelt on while seated because unexpected turbulence can happen anytime without any warning.
Light and Moderate turbulence happen more often
Severe and Extreme turbulence happens kind of rare
Airplane turbulence level
4
Expected turbulence is when pilot can predict ahead before it happens that the seatbelt sign turns on and announcement is made to warn passenger about the upcoming turbulence.
Example of a Expected Turbulence
Frontal Turbulence
Mountain Wave Turbulence
Jet Stream Turbulence
Thunderstorm Turbulence
Wake Turbulence
Expected Turbulence
5
Unexpected turbulence is when pilot cannot predict ahead before it happens the seatbelt sign turns on after the turbulence started happening sometimes may make an announcement but it is happening without warning.
Example of a Unexpected turbulence
Clear Air Turbulence
Wake Turbulence unexpected encounter
Convective Turbulence
Mechanical Turbulence
Unexpected Turbulence
6
Seatbelt sign is reminds passenger to stay seated with their seatbelt fasten.
Pilots do their best to try to aim for no turbulence and keep the Seatbelt sign off as possible as they can.
Even if Seatbelt sign is off passenger should still keep their seatbelt fasten unless if they are walking around the cabin or use bathroom.
Seatbelt sign
7
When is Seatbelt sign use
Seatbelt sign is used for taxiing, takeoff, and landing.
Seatbelt sign is used for Moderate, Severe, and Extreme turbulence.
Seatbelt sign are not use when the airplane is park at the gate, during flight with no turbulence or maybe light turbulence as long if the turbulence doesn't become moderate.
8
Turbulence are not dangerous
Turbulence are not dangerous.
Modern Airplane are design to handle turbulence.
Flight crew are trained to handle turbulence and they are to available to assist passenger.
If turbulence is bad flight crew take their seats as well first the passenger usual takes seat first then the flight crew.
When the turbulence is no longer bad flight crew can stand up.
When the turbulence has subside passenger are free to move around the cabin.
Airplane is the safest transportation

More notice bump passenger feel more force against their seatbelt carts maybe difficult to operate walking will get challenge unsecured object will shift will move more seatbelt sign turns on
Large sudden movement can throw people it can make difficult to stand upright unsecured object will be thrown around flight crew will have to stop their service and take seats
Aircraft violently toss around aircraft may get damage pilots request to escape the place unsecured people will get serious injuries
