Describing How Heat Travels

Heat is transferred in three ways. These are conduction, convection, and radiation.

Conduction is the transfer of heat through solid substances. Heat
travels from particle to particle of solids that are in contact with each
other. The particles of solid are tightly packed that they allow heat
energy to flow rapidly from one particle to another particle.

Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of liquid
and gas called fluid. Heat energy is transferred through the
substance using convection current.

Radiation is the transfer of heat through space without matter. The
heat from the Sun travels through space through this method.

Heat plays an important role in our everyday life. Many of our daily activities involve heat.
Cooking food and boiling water make use of heat. Heat is needed to warm our bodies,
especially during cold weather. It is also used in drying our washed clothes as well as ironing
them. In addition, heat has many uses in industries that produce materials that we use like
glass, paper, textiles, and many more.
