1. Introduction
Through the beauty of words, literature has the capacity to uplift and unite people. With this
goal in mind, we are pleased to launch a platform aimed at encouraging kids' creativity and
passion for reading.
Through conversations, workshops, and group projects, the Literary Society will provide a
forum for people to share their ideas and hone their writing abilities.
We are really happy to announce that we have decided to publish our first anthology.
Members of our society will contribute original poetry, short tales, essays, and other creative
works to this collection. This activity is aimed for students of Grade 8.
As we set out on a quest to foster a vibrant literary culture, we extend an invitation to all
readers, authors, and poets to join us on this thrilling adventure.
2. Goals of the Activity
Motivate learners to read and write creatively on a regular basis.
Provide a forum for students/learners to express themselves through essays, poetry,
and short stories.
Assist students with content creation, editing, design and publication.
Promote contributions from people with various experiences, viewpoints and
backgrounds to ensure diversity.
To promote the joy of reading, plan literacy drives, storytelling events, and book
donation drives.
Assemble and publish a novel, magazine, or anthology that highlights the finest
contributions made by students.
3. Objectives of the Activity
Develop the ability to analyze complex literary and informational texts.
Compare and contrast texts to understand different perspectives and historical
contexts.
Strengthen vocabulary through literary exposure, word study.
Develop skills in figurative language, and tone.

Encourage precision in word choice and sentence structure for effective
communication.
Build confidence in verbal expression through debates, speeches, and spoken word
poetry.
Provide opportunities for students to lead discussions and literary analyses.
Encourage lifelong reading habits by exposing students to diverse authors and
perspectives.
Create reading challenges and book clubs to engage students with literature.
4. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Announce the project, make teams, assign roles, set deadlines.
A teacher or staff member must supervise all activities and events.
Obtain written parental consent before publishing student work.
Announce submission guidelines (theme, word limit and deadline) through posters,
school announcements, and the club's online platform.
Assign student roles (editorial team, event coordinator and marketing lead).
Use design software (Canva, Adobe InDesign) to create the anthology layout,
including cover design, table of contents, and author bios.
Use school-approved platforms for digital publishing; do not share personal student
information.
Follow school emergency procedures during events, with exits and first-aid kits
available.
Set clear deadlines for writing submissions and event planning.
Promote respectful discussion; no interrupting or offensive language.
Encourage inclusive participation.
Maintain attendance records for meetings and workshops.
Report any safety concerns or misconduct to school administration.
Organize venue, certificates, guest welcome and student performances.
Financial summary, feedback collection, final reports.

5. Activity
Publish an Anthology of Student Poetry/Short Stories.
5.1 Activity 1: Socratic Seminars
Students read a short story, essay, or poem.
They prepare open-ended discussion questions related to themes, symbolism, or
author intent.
In a structured discussion, students take turns speaking, using textual evidence to
support their ideas.
5.2 Activity 2: Create a Digital Storybook
Students create an illustrated digital story using Canva or Google Slides.
They incorporate narration, music, and visual elements.
5.3 Activity 3: Writing Workshops
The advisor, potentially with the assistance of English/Urdu teachers or guest
speakers, will plan and prepare the workshop content.
Storytelling techniques, poetry structure, and editing skills instruction.
Examples of effective writing and common writing errors.
Writing prompts and exercises.
Conduct the creative writing workshop.
Provide a platform for students to share their work and receive feedback from peers.
Students will submit their work according to the established guidelines.
Peer feedback sessions will be organized, with guidelines for constructive criticism.
The Editorial Team, in consultation with teachers, will review submissions and select
pieces for the anthology based on quality, originality, and adherence to guidelines.
Selected authors will work with the editorial team to refine their pieces,
incorporating feedback and ensuring consistency.

5.4 Activity 4: Marketing & Promotion
Students will develop a marketing plan for the launch event. They'll explore social
media marketing, creating engaging content, designing posters and flyers, writing
press releases, and reaching out to local media outlets
Utilize platforms popular in Pakistan like Facebook and Instagram. A short
promotional video for the book launch on it.
The Marketing and Finance Teams will collaborate to manage pre-orders and
secure sponsorships. They will develop a system for tracking pre-orders and
managing sponsor contributions.
6. Duties Assigned to Teachers
i.Ms Rukhshanda will be responsible for mentorship and student engagement.
ii.Ms Mahum will be responsible for supervising student submissions.
iii.Ms Amna and Ms Sana will be responsible for editing and proofreading and providing
feedback to the students. They will also the work for publication.
iv.Ms Anum and Ms Hina will be incharge for the design and the formatting of the
anthology.
v.Sir Zeeshan and Sir Hamza will coordinate with the publisher and manage the budget.
vi.Sir Akbar and Sir Amir will be responsible for the promotion, marketing and publicity.
vii.Ms Rahat for hosting of the event.
7. Timeline
The total time for publishing the anthology is 3 months (12 weeks).
Week 1-5: Planning of the activity (includes announcement of the project, conducting
seminars and workshops, assigning roles and accepting submissions from students)
Week 6-7: Editing and proofreading.
Week 8: Anthology design (includes layout, cover design and table of contents)
Week 9: Printing
Week 10: Marketing and promotion (social media campaigns)
Week 11: Event Execution
Week 12: Post-Event Activities (feedback and financial summary)
