Adverbs

Adverbs generally answer when, how, in what way, or to what extent an action is done.

  • She smiled happily. (in what way?)

  • We watched that movie frequently. (how often?)

  • The students were really tired. (to what extent?)

  • Friday I watched hopefully for my team to win the game. (when? in what way?)

  • NOTE: MANY adverbs end in -ly but NOT all of them
