Unit 7 Lesson 1a:
Graphing Points & Lines

​Objective:

We are going to use a coordinate plane to graph points and lines.

​Concepts:

Coordinate - (x, y) where x is horizontal displacement from the origin, and y is the vertical displacement from the origin.
Horizontal Lines - (y = n), where n is any number on the plane.
Vertical Line - (x = n), where n is any number on the the plane.

​Procedures:

1. Read the (x, y) coordinate.

2. Move left/right for x, positive right, negative left.

3. Move up/down for y, positive up, negative down.

4. After performing both movements place a point.

Graph:
(2, -5)
(-1, 3)
x = 4
y = - 2
