What is the Renaissance?

The Renaissance

• The Renaissance mean "rebirth"

• A rebirth of interest in education and the arts

• Scholars renewed interest in the classical ideas of Ancient Greece and Rome

• People from this time switched from a religious to a secular (worldly) perspective on life

• During the Middle Ages, European society was focused on religion and the Catholic Church was the most important political force

• During the Renaissance, people were most on secular ideas
