Tense tells when something is happening in time.
Present tense means the action is happening right now.

I see stars in the sky.
Dad points at the moon.
The boys look through the telescope.

How to know if a verb is present tense
To find out if a verb is present tense, look at the ending of the word. If it ends in -s or has no -s at the end it is probably present tense.
Dave drives his car to work.
This sentence has a present tense verb, because drives ends with an
-s.
