NAFTA is a free trade agreement that was formed by US, Canada, and Mexico. It stopped all tariff imports and exports on other countries. NAFTA was started in 1994 on January 1st. There were some things wrong with NAFTA like they would undermine wages and workplace safety. It also led the loss of US manufacturing jobs. The CFR(Code of Federal Regulations) said US auto sector lost roughly 350,000 jobs between 1994 and 2016. They were taken by workers in Mexico.​

The United States US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) entered into force on July 1, 2020. At the time, the United States, Canada, and Mexico updated the North American Free Trade Agreement, or more commonly known as NAFTA, to the USMCA. The USMCA is fairly beneficial for North American workers, farmers, ranchers, and businesses. This free trade agreement formed a more equal environment for trade encouraging high-paying jobs for Americans, and grew to the North American economy.​
