What happens when the numerator is a bigger number than the denominator?

Improper Fractions

• Divide the numerator by the denominator. Example in picture: 16 divided by 6. 6 only goes into 16 twice, with some with 4 left over (remander)! 

• 2 becomes our whole number. 

• 4, the remainder, becomes our new numerator. 

• 6 stays our denominator.
