Zero Error

•If the jaws are closed but the zero marks on the main scale and the vernier scale are not in line, there is an error known as the zero error.

•The readings will differ from the actual length.

To get the correct value, the zero error is subtracted from the reading.

12

Positive zero error

Zero marking is towards the RIGHT of the zero mark on the main scale.

It is called POSITIVE zero error
