Biodiversity is Important Because....

• Increases food choices

• Increases amount of food choices

• Entire food web is better able to adapt to changes

• 3 Types of Biodiversity: Genetic (within a species), Ecosystem (different types of environments), & Species (types of species)

• The goal is a balance!

• Causes: Urbanization (city growth), Agriculture, Manufacturing (need for natural resources), Forestry

• We do need basic needs, but there needs to be a balance

• Habitat loss is currently the primary cause of species extinction worldwide

• Splitting up of a habitat

• Cause examples: logging, dams, roads, parking lots, developments etc.
