Simile Definition
A simile is a figure of speech that directly compares two different things.
The simile is usually in a phrase that begins with the words "as" or "like."

A Simile is NOT a METAPHOR
A simile is different from a metaphor, which is also a comparison.
But a metaphor does not use 'like' or 'as'
Metaphor will have 'is' or 'was' or 'were' to compare two nouns.

Simile Examples
The rain pelted us like rocks.
The rain is being compared to rocks. This means the rain was HARD.
The boy ran as fast as a cheetah.
The boy is being compared to a cheetah. This means he is FAST.

Metaphor Example
The baby is an angel.
The baby is being compared to an angel. This means the baby does not do anything wrong.
The teacher was an early worm to school everyday.
This is comparing the teacher to an early worm. This means the teacher gets to school early every day.
