A noun can be used as a direct object

The direct object answers the question whom or what after the verb


Example: The community opened a neighborhood center.


What did the community (the subject) open?--> The center

Indirect Object

A noun can also be used as an indirect object

An indirect object tells to whom or for whom, or to what or for what, an action is done


Example: The center offers children classes.


To whom does the center offer classes? → The children
