Present tense - What does it mean?

  • Tense tells when something is happening in time.

  • Present tense means the action is happening right now.

Here are some examples of present tense verbs.

  • I see stars in the sky.

  • Dad points at the moon.

  • The boys look through the telescope.

How to know if a verb is present tense

To find out if a verb is present tense, look at the ending of the word. If it ends in -s or has no -s at the end it is probably present tense.


Dave drives his car to work.


This sentence has a present tense verb, because drives ends with an

-s.
