Vocabulary Terms
“schema” is prior knowledge or background information
“evidence” is clues or details from the text or photo
Using schema and evidence together helps to make inferences about what might be happening.
schema + evidence = inference
When you are asked to draw inferences, the exact answer will not be found in the text.
Instead, combine what you read in the text with what you already know to give an answer.
