CCSS.Math.Content.NY-4.MD.1

Know relative sizes of measurement units: ft., in.; km, m, cm. Know the conversion factor and use it to convert measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller

unit: ft., in.; Km, m, cm; hr., min., sec. Given the conversion factor, convert all other measurements within a single system of measurement from a larger unit to a

smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. (4-ESS1-1),(4-ESS2-1)

What does this mean?

Students need to know both the metric system and customary units which include inch, feet, yard, ounce, ton, second, minute, hour, day, month, year, millimeter, centimeter, meter, grams, kilogram, milliliter, and liter. Student's also need to know how to go from a larger unit to a smaller unit (multiply) in the same system. Lastly be able to show relationships or conversions between same system units in a two column table example 1 ft, 12 in (instructure.com).
