Déjà vu is the strange feeling that an event that is currently happening has somehow already happened before. Researchers estimate that two-thirds of people have felt déjà vu before. Yet the causes of déjà vu remain a mystery. This, at least in part, is because the phenomenon is extraordinarily difficult to study in a laboratory. By its very nature, déjà vu is spontaneous and unpredictable. We can't make it happen, nor can we know when it will happen. It's also very infrequent. It wouldn't be practical to bring people into a lab and simply wait for déjà vu to occur; chances are, it won't.

Read the piece of text below
Epilepsy, a condition that causes interruptions in brain activity called seizures, can be particularly challenging due to its unpredictability. People with the disorder typically never know when seizures will occur. One interesting exception is temporal lobe epilepsy, which affects the section of the brain that stores longterm memories. Some temporal lobe epilepsy patients get an odd warning sign just before a seizure starts: a sensation of strong, unexplained familiarity, or déjà vu. Déjà vu itself, however, has no warning signs; it is unpredictable by nature. By studying people with temporal lobe epilepsy, researchers hope to learn more about déjà vu, which could provide important information about how memory works.

Cordelia sighed, readjusting the heavy velvet cape once more. Ariel rapped on the door and leaned into the dressing chamber.
"You look so dignified," Ariel said admiringly. "Royal, even."
"I'm not dignified," replied Cordelia, turning away from the mirror. "And I certainly don't feel royal. We all have to wear these terrible outfits for Father's welcome banquet."
Cordelia's father had been unexpectedly appointed the ruler of the Interplanetary Alliance just the week before. Every day since had been a whirlwind of etiquette lessons, formal dinners, and stilted media interviews that were broadcast across the solar system.
"Well other people certainly think you're royal. I overheard two of the new serving girls buzzing about getting a glimpse of the honorable Queen Cordelia at the banquet," remarked Ariel.
Cordelia held up her hands in protest. "Oh, stop! I'm not 'honorable,' and I'm definitely not a 'queen.'" But the serving girls were half right. One day Cordelia would be a queen. And that would be the day when all her dreams of becoming an intergalactic explorer would be over for good.
Still, Cordelia allowed Ariel to retie her cape and fix her hair all while listening to Ariel talk about how glamorous the banquet would be. Cordelia barely heard. She kept gazing at the spot under her bed where she'd hidden her explorer training manual. Even though there were many eyes on her family, she hoped she could find a way to resume her secret training.
