​Adjectives Vs Adverbs:
The battle

​Τα επίθετα (adjectives) περιγράφουν ουσιαστικά. Συχνά τα βρίσκουμε πριν από ουσιαστικά ή μετά από το ρήμα "BE" (am, is, are, was, were κλπ). Πχ:
I am happy today.
Alex is a tall boy.
Her song was beautiful.

​Adverbs (επιρρήματα)

​Τα επιρρήματα περιγράφουν ρήματα, επίθετα ή άλλα επιρρήματα. Πολύ συχνά σχηματίζονται προσθέτοντας την κατάληξη -ly στο επίθετο (nice-nicely), ενώ υπάρχουν και κάποια που έχουν την ίδια μορφή με το επίθετο (fast-fast). Παρατηρήστε τα παραδείγματα παρακάτω:
He paints nice paintings (nice=επίθετο).
He paints really nice paintings (really= επίρρημα, περιγράφει το επίθετο nice, δηλ. λέει πόσο καλές είναι οι ζωγραφιές)
He paints nicely (nicely=επίρρημα, περιγράφει ΠΩΣ ζωγραφίζει)
He paints really nicely (really= επίρρημα, περιγράφει ΠΟΣΟ καλά ζωγραφίζει)
She is a fast runner. (επίθετο)
She runs fast. (επίρρημα)
