Use

The simple present tense in English is used to describe an action that is regular, true or normal.

Use

​1. For repeated or regular actions in the present time period.
John sleeps eight hours a night on weekdays.

2. For facts (reality).
We come from Switzerland.

3. For habits.
I water the plants twice a week.

4. For things that are always / generally true.
It rains a little in winter in Mexicali.

Action verbs can be divided into 2 categories, depending on the subject they are used with:

*Base form --> I/you/we/they/plural nouns

‘S’ form --> he/she/it/singular nouns

​*Base form = no modification to the verb

Spelling rules for 's' form

For subjects he, she, it or singular. ​

For verbs that end in a consonant + Y, we remove the Y and add -ies.

Add -s at the end of the majority of the verbs.
