Scientific Drawings

Recall that scientists use models to represent objects or processes. A scientific drawing is a type of model that scientists make to depict the most important characteristics of a specimen. A good scientific drawing should:

  • show the entire specimen;

  • include as much detail as possible; and

  • label important structures.

Scientific Drawing of a Brine Shrimp

Now, you will view some of the brine shrimp you hatched and create a scientific drawing of one. Recall that brine shrimp go through a series of distinct shapes as they move from eggs to adulthood. The shape you will most likely see is called a nauplius.
