1
1-6 solving complex linear equations

2
planning a solution
know your enemy- does the equation have distribution, combine like terms, variables on the same side of the equal sign?
Remember, plan what you are going to do and trust your skills
3
Multiple Choice
What is the only step you can not do first.
multiply -3(2x+4)
do 5-3
add 2 to both sides of the equation
add 12 to both sides of the equation
4
5−3(2x+4)−2=3(7−x)−5(2x+7)−12
A good plan is to always distribute first
5-6x-12-2=21-3x-10x-35-12
then combine like terms
-6x-9 = -13x-26
get the variable on 1 side of the equal sign
7x-9 = -26
get rid of the constant on same side as the variable
