Consonant Sounds

People speak all kinds of different languages, but everyone makes sounds with their mouth and vocal cords.

We make these sounds with our lips.

• b - p - m - w

• try saying each sound without out adding any other sounds

• for instance, say "b", not "buh"

We make these sounds with our upper teeth and lips

• f - v

• try making these sounds with any extra sounds

• for instance, say "f", not "foh"

Sounds created with the tongue and teeth

• t - d - n - j - l - s - z - r - y - k - g - h

• say each letter sound alone like before

• for instance, "t", not " tuh"

Place hand gently on larynx (throat)

say: f and v

say: p and b

say: t and g

say: s and z
