Metaphors and Simile
Metaphors compare things that are not alike but have something in common like "heart of gold". This refers that the heart is a very important part and does not state that it is actually made of gold. Just like that similes compare any two things with each other, using like or as. "he can run as fast as the wind". This means that the person referred is very fast. Like or as is used, making it a simile and not a metaphor
3
Idioms and Personification
Idioms are phrases that are not meant to be taken literally. Like if you say that someone has cold feet it does not mean they really do have "cold feet". It means that they are nervous. Now personification is when you give non living objects living traits like "Lightning danced across the sky". In this you are giving lightning a living trait that is dancing.
4
Alliteration and Onomatopoeia
Alliteration is when you have a bunch of words mostly starting with the same letter like "peter piped picked a peck of pickled peppers. This has most words starting with the letter P. Now onomatopoeia is when you use sound words instead of normal ones like "The dog went woof, woof". Instead of saying the dog barked we are using sound words to say the same.
