Salmonella is one of the most common types of food poisoning caused by bacteria. It is a bacterial infection that affects the gastro-intestinal tract, this bacteria is usually found in animal and human intestines and is shared through feces. Humans become infected most frequently through contaminated water or food.

Salmonella
Most people are infected with salmonella by eating foods that have been contaminated by feces. Also having consumed under cooked meat or came into contactwith an infected person.

Feces may get onto raw meat and poultry during the butchering process. Seafood may be contaminated if harvested from contaminated water.

Some infected chickens produce eggs that contain salmonella before the shell is even formed.

The incubation period ranges from several hours to two days. Most salmonella infections can be classified as stomach flu. Contact should be avoided with other people for at least 24 hours after recovery. You can spread it for as long as you carry the bacteria which may be months.
