​Many many years ago, the Ancient Greeks wrote down many stories about war, love, Gods and heroes. One of these stories is about the war for Troy, in which the Ancient Greeks attacked Troy.

​

Troy was one of the most powerful cities at the time.

​The story starts with the prince of Troy, Paris. Paris fell in love with Helen, a young woman from Greece. She was the most beautiful woman at the time. Paris took Helen with him to Troy.

​

But there was one problem: Helen was already married to a Greek king.

 

The Greek army attacked the city of Troy and used a big horse made out of wood to sneak into the city. (But that is a different story.) In the end, the Ancient Greeks burned the city of Troy down.

​Trojan horse: The Greeks built a horse out of wood. Some Greek soldiers hid inside the horse. The people if Troy thought that the horse was a present and brought it into their city.

In the night, the Greek soldiers climbed out of the horse, opened the gates of the city and then burned the city down.​

​or many years, everyone thought that this story was just a legend and the city never existed. But in 1871, two archeologists found the ruins of an ancient city in modern-day Turkey.

We now believe that the mystical city of Troy actually existed!
