Integers to represent different situations & the meaning of zero

The high temperature yesterday has 24 degrees. This is 17 degrees below the average high temperature in January.

Zero represents the average high temperature which is 41, not 0. ​

An account balance is the amount of money present in a financial repository, such as a savings or checking account, at any given moment.

Deposit: Putting money into an account (de-positive)
