A frog is a type of animal called an amphibian. Amphibians live on land and in the water. They can breathe air like us, and, they can breathe underwater with their gills, like a fish.

A frog begins its life as an egg. The mother frog lays her eggs in the water.

When the baby frog is inside its egg, it is called an embryo.

When the baby frog hatches from its egg, it is called a tadpole. It swims with its long tail.

Slowly, the tadpole grows its legs, and develops lungs. At this stage, it is called a froglet. It can breathe air and come out of the water.
