Measures of Dispersion:Advantages/Disadvantages
Let's explore
2
Range
Range is the easiest measure of dispersion to calculate but it cannot provide a good view of how data is distributed.
3
Interquartile Range
Interquartile range is the more appropriate measure of dispersion to show the distribution of the data in cases where there is an outlier or extreme value.
4
Standard Deviation
SD is used to compare two sets of data
A low SD indicates that the data is dispersed close to the mean
A high SD indicates that the data is dispersed far from the mean
