LAW OF CONSERVATION OF MOMENTUM:
For any interaction occurring between object 1 and object 2 in an isolated system, the total momentum of the two objects before the collision is equal to the total momentum of the two objects after the collision.
conserved means total does not change - but each piece may change.
must be careful with positives and negatives for velocity
isolated system: means no outside forces - just the two objects affecting each other.
