2

What is photosynthesis?

Plants create food through photosynthesis. For photosynthesis to take place, plants need sunlight, chlorophyll, water, and carbon dioxide. Different parts of the plant are used in photosynthesis.

3

Photosynthesis

A chemical process by which green plants make their food. Plants use energy from the sun to turn water and carbon dioxide into food, and they give off oxygen as a by-product.

4

Chlorophyll

The green substance in plants that uses light to manufacture food from carbon dioxide and water.

5

Stomata

Tiny pores in the bottom of leaves.
