SEQUENCING

SEQUENCE

is the order in which events happen.

The sequence has beginning, middle, and ending.

ELEMENTS OF A SHORT STORY

A story has five basic but important elements. These five components are; the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the resolution.

CHARACTERS

They are the people, animal, or creatures in the story.

Answers the question, WHO?

​SETTING

​It tells when and where the story takes place. Answers the question, WHEN AND WHERE?

​PLOT

It is the order of events that make up a story.​

C​ONFLICT

It is the problem in the story. The plot is centered on this conflict and the ways in which the characters attempt to resolve the problem.

RESOLUTION

The solution to the problem. it is the way the action is resolved. The resolution is near the end of the story. The resolution should wrap up all the loose ends and solve any conflict.
