Similarity, Congruence, and Angle Relationships

A Targeted Review

Read Carefully!

  • There are clipped videos in this Lesson.

  • They play only a section of the video. They are trimmed to a certain length.

  • The videos will start and stop at appropriate moments.

  • You DO NOT need to click to watch the entire video elsewhere on YouTube. The trim function won't work there.

Also on the Test

  • Angle Relationships

  • Vertical Angles

  • Linear Pairs

  • Complementary

  • Supplementary

5

Triangle Sum Theorem

  • Sum of all 3 angles is ALWAYS 180 degrees!

  • No matter what type of problem

6

Algebra too!

  • Notice the format is the same

  • Add all angles and set equal to 180

7

What about Parallel Lines?

  • If a transversal cuts the parallel lines...

  • We'll have corresponding angles congruent

  • We'll have alternate interior angles congruent

  • We'll have alternate exterior angles congruent

  • We'll have same-side interior angles that are supplementary

8

9

Analyzing Figures for Angle Relationships

  • Label relationships that are given such as parallel lines

  • Label implied relationships such as vertical angles, corresponding angles, etc

  • Begin by calculating simple relationships such as linear pairs and triangle sum (missing angle)

  • You should arrive at the ability to find the missing value easily if you follow this protocol
