Passive voice

When do we use it?
The passive voice is used to focus the action on the object of the sentence.
The passive voice is used when the subject is unknown, irrelevant, or when emphasis is to be placed on the object.
In the passive voice, the subject receives the action of the verb.

Passive Voice:

Passive voice: The movie E.T was directed by Spielberg.

Passive Voice Formation
The object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence.
Active: My father built this house.
Passive: This house was built by my father.
The subject of the active sentence becomes the agent of the passive sentence and it is preceded by the preposition "by".
Example: This house was built by my father.
