2

What is electron affinity?

Electron affinity- How a neutral molecule attracts an electron to become negative. Think- how much they want to attract electrons

3

What is electronegativity?

Electronegativity- Ability of a molecule to draw bonding electrons to itself. Think- how badly it wants to hog electrons.

Quick Note

An atom is formed of Protons, Electrons, and Neutrons (Protons, and Neutrons have a molecular weight of one. While electrons have a molecular weight of 9.1 x 10^ -31 (very, very, very small)

6

Dipole Moment

Dipole moments- dipole moments  are applied to the distribution of electrons between two bonded atoms.

Water Properties

The main properties of water are its polaritycohesion, adhesion, surface tension, high specific heat, and evaporative cooling. A water molecule is slightly charged on both ends.

9

Multiple Choice

Water is ____

1

having a high specific heat

2

an excellent solvent
