Light waves

  • Type of transverse wave

  • Do not need a medium to travel through

  • Traveling in rays

5

Rays

A line of energy that moves in one direction until it hits an object.

6

Properties of light waves

  • Light can be reflected, refracted or absorbed.

  • reflected:

  • To bounce off an object

Slide image

7

Refraction:

  • To bend when passing through an object.

  • Light can refract when they enter a new medium.

  • The way the light refracts depends on the type of matter they passes through.

8

Prism refraction

  • When the light passes through a prism it separates into different colors like those in the photo.
