Conclusion

The conclusion is the final paragraph in the essay. An effective conclusion should:


1. Reword/restate the thesis and main points of the essay.

2. Summarize each body paragraph in one complete sentence

3. Give the essay a sense of completeness. 

4. Leave a final impression upon the reader.

5. Include a conclusion strategy.

Strategies to Use 

  • Explore the consequences (positive and negative)

  • Challenge the reader (call to action)

  • Look to the future (cause the reader to apply the information to his/her own life)

  • Pose questions (give the reader a new perspective)

  • Raise unexpected value (what can the reader learn/gain as a result of the thesis/essay)

Conclusion - Generation Z Prompt

While the debate as to which generation reigns supreme continues, most would agree that the current and previous generations share a few things. Generation Z several things in common with previous generations, some of them being our drive for economic success and shared life experiences. All three generations have taken a position in the world of small business owners as well as have lived through troubling and trying times. The next time your parents argue that you've "got it easy" remind them how a few things haven't changed through generations.
