Word Work: Assignment

You CANNOT submit the Word Work Section of your edio lesson blank!!!!

• All year, you have studied a variety of word part meanings.

• The whole point of the Word Work section is to help you apply these meanings so that you can build your vocabulary and read more efficiently.

• Today, you are showing what you have learned with the word work final assignment

Word Work Final Assignment

• For the assignment, you will be creating 3 frayer models using word parts that we have studied throughout the year

• A frayer model is a diagram where one word is connected to its related information, like in the example to the right

• You will be choosing 3 different word parts to complete your frayer model assignment

Assignment Details

• To start, go to page 3 of today's edio lesson to download the blank template and to view the word parts chart

• You will need to complete three Frayer models. Here are some tips for completing the activity:

  • Use an online dictionary to help you check your definitions if needed.

  • In the “Examples” section, be sure to give two different words including the root or affix you chose.

  • Be sure that your example in the “Sentence” section gives a context clue to show that you understand the meaning of the word.

  • For the “Image” section, you can use a shape, an icon, or an appropriate image from the internet.

Prepare to work

• When you have finished, take a minute to proofread

• Check that you have followed all directions:

  • Are your definitions clear and easy to understand?

  • In the “Sentence” section, did you actually write in a complete sentence?

  • Did you fully complete all three slides?

• After you proofread, head to page 5 of your edio lesson to submit your assignment

• If you are unable to finish the assignment today, that is okay. You will have time during tomorrow's live class to complete and submit.

Create Your Presentation

Learners can:

• create a slideshow that uses images and text to engage the audience

• After you finish and upload your frayer model assignment, the rest of class is time to work on your PSA presentation

• Open your PSA Script and Slideshow from earlier lessons

• Don't forget to save your work when you are finished!

• If you need a blank template or to look at an example, check page 3 of the edio lesson

• We will also have time during our live class tomorrow to work on finishing your slides if you run out of time today!

• The rest of class is Independent Work time for you to be completing your Word Work Assignment (Frayer Model Slides) and to be working on your PSA Presentation

• If you run out of time today for either project, that is okay. Tomorrow's live class is a project work day!
