How to Identify Success Criteria in a Client Brief

When reading a client brief, look for clues that tell them:

​✅ What the game must include (features, mechanics, style)
Who the target audience is (age group, interests)
How the game should feel and play (genre, difficulty, controls)
Any technical requirements (platform, file formats, accessibility)

How to Structure the Mind Map

At the center, write the game title or main objective (e.g., 2D Platformer Game).

Then, branch out into key areas based on the client brief:

Game Concept – What is the game about? (Story, theme, objective)
Target Audience – Who is playing it? What appeals to them?
Core Mechanics – What actions can the player take? (Jumping, collecting, enemies)
Levels & Progression – How does the game develop? (Levels, increasing difficulty)
Visual Style – What should the game look like? (Bright, engaging, simple)
Technical Requirements – What platform? (PC, tablet), what software will be used?
Sound & Music – What kind of audio? (Background music, sound effects)
