So far in our lesson for the Civil War we've talked about a few abolitionists, people who want to abolish slavery, like:

- Nat Turner
- Harriet Tubman
- John Brown

Nat Turner was an [slave] abolitionist that led a revolt against slavery and plantation owners in Southampton County, Virginia in 1831, along with six other slaves, that killed 55~ white slave owners.
This slave revolution was the deadliest slave revolution in American history and it led to:

Harriet Tubman was an abolitionist who escaped from slavery and then helped other enslaved people gain their freedom on the Underground Railroad.

John Brown was an abolitionist who attempted to lead a slave rebellion (1859) in Harper's Ferry, Virginia (now in West Virginia) on the United States Armory (Arsenal, where weapons for the army are stored) that was located there.

His rebellion failed and he was captured and hanged for his crimes against the Confederacy.
