Adverb

A prepositional phrase is a group of words that starts with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun. It usually tells us where, when, or how something happens.

​Prepositional Phrases

​Preposition – a word that shows direction, place, or time. (Examples: in, on, at, under, over, by, with, through)

Object of the preposition – the noun or pronoun that follows the preposition.

Modifiers – words that describe the object (like adjectives).

​Preposition Parts

“Under the big, green tree”

• Preposition: under

• Modifiers: the big, green
  👉 Together, they make a prepositional phrase.

An adjectival phrase is a group of words that describes a noun — just like an adjective! It gives more information about the noun.

💡 What is an Adjective Phrase?

1. The girl with the curly hair is my sister.
   → “with the curly hair” describes the girl
   → It tells which girl

2. I saw a house made of glass.
   → “made of glass” describes the house

3. The cookies on the plate are chocolate chip.
   → “on the plate” tells which cookies

How are adjectives and adjective phrases different?
