A prepositional phrase is a group of words that starts with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun. It usually tells us where, when, or how something happens.

Prepositional Phrases

Preposition – a word that shows direction, place, or time. (Examples: in, on, at, under, over, by, with, through)

Object of the preposition – the noun or pronoun that follows the preposition.

Modifiers – words that describe the object (like adjectives).

    👉 Together, they make a prepositional phrase.

An adjectival phrase is a group of words that describes a noun — just like an adjective! It gives more information about the noun.

    the girl
