Steam power, railways, and telegraphs dramatically reduced transportation and communication costs, enabling expanded international trade.

​Globalization has fundamentally reshaped the world economy through expanded trade, investment flows, and integrated supply chains. International trade has grown from 42% of global GDP in 1980 to over 60% today, creating economic interdependence between nations.​
