IRIS- Umm, mom do you know where did I left my purse??
MOM- No, dear, did you lost it again.
IRIS - Oh no? why cant I remember?
ASH- The real question is not that. Why do we forget things??
so iris try to remember your 8th standard teacher and the most fav one.
IRIS- Yes i can remember it.
ASH-Ok, then try to remember the food you ate 10 days ago.
IRIS- Umm, I dont think i can remember it.
ASH- So, why do we forgot certain things easily?

3

ASH-To know why do we forget first, we have to learn about our memories that are part of your complex and multitalented brain.
When you take a certain activities for example- reading a new book and what do you think it will do iris?
IRIS- Our brain gets active, converts that information into that pulse of electric energy that travels through the network of nuerons to the short term memory area where its stored hardly for a couple of min. Then if your brain thinks that certain information is important enough it takes that information to the long term memory.

4

ASH-Yes, its correct. You forgot the important part it travels that information by hippocampus to long term memory, hippocampus is the important part of our brain that process memories and finally the hippocampus moves the data across different areas of cerebal cortex for a permanent storage, now we know how we remember things. But the critical question is wait... umm.... what was the question?
IRIS- Oh my sis its (whispers) why do we forget?
ASH- Oh yes, why do we forget?

5

ASH- Well thats because there is no need for us to maintain everything on our brain. Short-term memory has a fairly limited capacity it can hold about seven items for no more than 20 to 30 sec at a time, so whatever information our brain perceives that is less important is eradicated from its system, saving it from getting overloaded. The information that is very important to us is eventually transferred from short term area to long term area that has unlimited capacity to store where it stays for a long period.

6

ASH- Remember, its abosulety normal to occasinally forget things, like the name of someone you just met or even where you let your phones or any important stuffs. And of course everyone had forgotten the ans in your exams, also its typical to forget things as we grow older. But if your forgetting things now and everyday, there are several steps you can take to keep your brain healthy and retain your memories:
1) Just try to stay physically healthy by exercisng or even playing.

7

IRIS- Oh let me guess
2) We have to eat healthy foods to keep our brain healthy to keep our brain working effectivley.
ASH- Yes your right.
IRIS- Ughh i hate it. I found my purse!! it was in my table hehe.
MOM- Wow i love this sisterhood!
