​Illnesses are when our body or mind doesn’t feel good. These can happen because of tiny germs like viruses or bacteria. When we are sick, we might have a fever, cough, feel pain, or feel very tired.

Some common illnesses for kids are colds, ear infections, chickenpox, bronchitis, and stomach flu. When we have these illnesses, we might cough, have a fever, get a rash, or have a tummy ache.

Many illnesses can spread easily, especially in places like schools or daycare. To help keep everyone healthy, it's important to wash our hands and stay home when we are sick.


Bệnh tật là khi cơ thể hoặc tâm trí của chúng ta không cảm thấy khỏe. Điều này có thể xảy ra do các vi khuẩn nhỏ như vi rút hoặc vi khuẩn. Khi bị ốm, chúng ta có thể bị sốt, ho, đau nhức, hoặc cảm thấy rất mệt mỏi.

MOM'S PRESENT

Emma and Ann went to the department store across from the children’s park near the movie theatre to buy a birthday present for their mom, Ruby. They asked the salesperson, “How much is this sweater?” The salesperson said, “It’s $30.” Then they looked at the shoes next to the stack of sandals. “They’re $50,” said the salesperson. Emma and Ann didn’t have enough money, so they went home feeling sad. When they got home, Dad said, “Let’s make a present together!” Emma and Ann made a beautiful card and a bracelet. On Mom’s birthday, they gave her the gifts. Mom smiled and said, “These are so beautiful! Thank you.” Emma and Ann were happy to make Mom’s day special.
